Hi there welcome to today’s episode. So far, we have already addressed both the inner and outer critics.
Now it’s time we put the spotlight on the other side of the equation, and that, is your inner cheerleader.
What Is Your Inner Cheerleader?
Your Inner Cheerleader is quite literally the opposite of your Inner Critic.
While the critics want to keep you down, your Cheerleader wants to build you up, cheer you on and give you the confidence to go out there and succeed in anything you want to do in life.
When pushed to the foreground, your cheerleader will make it clear that actually:
- You can
- You are good enough
- Nobody will judge you
- Nobody will laugh you
- You’re one smart cookie
- You are gorgeous
- There are no reasons not to go for it
- Change is brilliant
- You can absolutely do this
Imagine what your life would be like if you allowed your inner cheerleader to override the critics?
What if instead of believing that you can’t, you knew that you absolutely could?
What if, instead of convincing yourself that you were unworthy of something, you knew your worth and had complete and utter faith in yourself, and your abilities.
And what if, whenever your inner critic raised a self doubt or objection, your inner cheerleader could override the critic with speed, ease and authority.
What if this really was your reality?
Sounds brilliant right!?
Between you me and lamppost, I know that I’d rather listen to my inner cheerleader over my inner critic any day of the week.
To help you to bring your Authentic Self to the foreground, let’s turn up the volume on your Inner Cheerleader once and for all.
Say Hello to Your Inner Cheerleader
Get yourself in a comfortable position and if you feel safe to do so, close your eyes.
I want you to think of a time when your inner critic held you back, or made you feel less than you are.
What was Inner Critic saying to you?
You can’t?
You are not worthy?
It’s too difficult?
Whatever it was, imagine yourself back in that situation.
Now, turn your inner critic’s mantra into your new power statement.
You can’t? You Can!
You are not worthy? You are worthy!
It’s too difficult? It’s a challenge you are capable of facing head on and overcoming!
Once you have your power statement, say goodbye to your inner critic, and begin to turn its volume down.
Now, imagine you are standing in the middle of rows and rows of bleachers in a football stadium.
In front of you, you see the green pitch, a huge black screen overhead, and beneath the screen, you see the small figure of your Inner Cheerleader (complete with pom poms and ra ra skirt).
As you stand there, gazing towards your Inner Cheerleader, I want you to focus on your new power statement.
Really focus on it.
Look at your Inner Cheerleader, and hear your Cheerleader lightly whisper your mantra, over and over again.
Keep focusing on your Cheerleader and begin to make its voice louder. Imagine the Cheerleader becoming bigger and bigger, louder and louder.
Glance up at the screen above your Cheerleaders head, and see the big screen flashing your mantra in giant letters as your Cheerleader continues their cheer.
Make your Cheerleader as big and as loud as you can. Imagine yourself joining in, shouting this power statement over and over again.
When you feel you are really in the moment, notice a huge fireworks display in the distance, and the sky over head erupts in lots and lots of confetti.
All the while, you and your Inner Cheerleader are chanting your power statement, with strength and with volume.
Take a few deeps breathes, smile and bask in this moment.
Take this feeling into your heart, and when you are ready, open your eyes and say hello to your Authentic Self.
